What does Diamond Clarity mean?

A diamond has the capability to refract more light than any other gemstone. Most diamonds contain tiny natural marks formed in nature called inclusions. The number of inclusions, their size and location all affect the diamond's clarity grade.

Internally Flawless, but minor surface blemishes which cannot be removed with polishing.

VVS1

Minute inclusions. Extremely difficult to locate using 10x microscope.

VVS2

Minute inclusions. Very difficult to locate using 10x microscope.

VS1

Small inclusions. Difficult to locate using 10x microscope.

VS2

Small inclusions. Difficult to locate using 10x microscope.

SI1

Inclusions difficult to locate with the naked eye, but easily located using 10x microscope.

SI2

Easy to locate using 10x microscope, may be visible to the naked eye.

SI3/I1

Inclusions obvious using 10x microscope and may be visible to the naked eye.

I2

Inclusions obvious using 10x microscope and may interfere with the transparency and brilliance.

I3

Prominent inclusions, extremely easy to see with the naked eye.
